GREENSBORO – Polyester yarn supplier Unifi, Inc., says it will launch a new recycled product that’s made specifically from plastic waste collected from near waterways or within 50 kilometres of coastlines that are ‘at risk’ of entering the ocean.
Billed as ‘Repreve our Ocean’ Unifi says the new recycled polyester yarn will play a role in solving the ever-growing problem of ocean plastic. The waste is collected from countries around the world that specifically lack formal recycling programmes.
However, none of the plastic used to make this fibre is collected from the ocean itself. It will be revealed at the Outdoor Retailer Summer Market held June 18 – 20 in Denver, USA.
